Michael Emberley<\/strong> (born Boston, Massachusetts, 1960) writes and illustrates books for children. The son of author\/illustrator Ed Emberley, Michael has written at least 20 books, including Mail Harry to the Moon<\/em> and Ruby and the Sniffs<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Paul Galdone<\/strong> (born Budapest, Hungary, 1914; died Nyack, New York, November 7, 1986) was an author and illustrator of children\u2019s books. Norton Juster<\/strong> (born Brooklyn, New York, 1939; died Northampton, Massachusetts, March 8, 2021) was an architect and author. Perhaps his most famous book is The Phantom Tollbooth<\/em>, published in 1961. He also wrote The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics<\/em>, published in 1963.<\/p>\n

Helen Oxenbury<\/strong> (born Suffolk, England, 1938) writes and illustrates books for children. She has written and illustrated at least 59 books and has illustrated at least 20 books by other authors.\u00a0She has twice received the Kate Greenaway Medal, in 1969 for The Quangle Wangle\u2019s Hat<\/em> and in 2000 for Alice\u2019s Adventures in Wonderland<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Martha Dandridge Washington<\/strong> (born near Williamsburg, Virginia, 1731; died Mount Vernon, Virginia, May 22, 1802) was America’s First Lady from April 30, 1789 to March 4, 1797. She was the wife of George Washington, the first president of the United States. Her first husband was Daniel Parke Custis; he died in 1757. She had to raise their two children alone. In 1759 she married George Washington. She never lived in the White House because the nation\u2019s capital moved from New York to Philadelphia while Washington was president.
